Home » Villeneuve de la Raho
Perched on a hill on Perpignan's doorstep at the foot of the Pyrenees, Villeneuve de la Raho offers various water activities as well as fishing, thanks to its lakes of nearly 200 hectares. They permanently reflect the Canigou Mountain just like mirrors. In the heart of the village, the atypical church built between the 13th and the 15th centuries, bears the inscriptions "Liberte, Egalite, Fraternite" (liberty, equality and brotherhood). Inside you will find a magnificient reredos dated 1690. On the edge of the village, the Romanic vestiges of the Saint Julien Chapel, built in 996 are being renovated. The main lake is a privileged site for carp fishing as well as nautical and rowing regattas,as well as an ecological reserve for migratory aquatic fauna. The tourist lake has restaurants along the edge and several water activities as well as bathing.
