Ansiguan

This village is located in the Fenouillèdes upstream the artificial lake of Caramary. This charming small village built around its church is especially known for its magnificent Roman aqueduct, pride of the inhabitants. On the place of the village, some metres away from the belvedere, a charming path will lead you to the aqueduct in 10 minutes. It's one of the last Roman works in the region. This reproduction, done in fact in a smaller way, of the bridge of the Gard includes 29 arcs and is about 180 metres long.
Classified in 1974 as historic monument, this magnificent aqueduct takes place over Agly in the middle of vineyards and fields. It is still used by the farmers and the wine growers of the village to irrigate the surrounding lands.
