Amelie les Bains is located in the middle of Vallespir, between Ceret and Arles Sur Tech. It is a very recommendable place for taking a cure (balneotherapie, drainage lymphatique or other treatments). Amelie les Bains is a small Pyrenees village founded by the Romans as Palada, and latter named "Baths of Arles". The health resort was known in the nineteenth century by the Queen Amelie, who was Ferdinand the First's girl, King of both Sicily and she was Louis-Philippe the First's wife, that's why this resort has this name nowadays.
At 240 metres high, in the middle of rose laurels, mimosas and palm trees, this small town is well-known for its sunny periods, the purity of its air and its relaxed way of life.
Amelie les Bains is a little paradise for patients taking the waters, with its waters full of sulphur and springing in 63°C, is famous for the treatment of respiratory treatments and also for rheumatology. We recommend the guided visit of the Roman baths which are a classified monument.
