Haut Conflent

Haut Conflent mountain passes are wide and inviting. They are reached by foot, or on horseback but not without with some effort. They are passing points from one valley to another, from a mountain peak crowned in snow to a rocky ridge. The aromas from jennet and juniper bushes, from the pines and ferns, reach the nostrils. It reminds us of sweet smelling hay drying after harvest, and of apples ripening in lofts, of houses from villages lower down. From the chimney rooftops can be seen a trail of smoke with its distinctive smell of smouldering wood. The scene is a peaceful one which is regulated by nature, rivers, prairies, herds... an eternal celebration of mother nature.
