Garonne

The river Garonne, called nowadays "Canal de Garonne", is the result of the building of the "Canal du Midi" (17th century) and "Canal Lateral" (19th century). This junction allowed the creation of an important commercial waterway, which had been expected for quite a long time in South of Europe, between the Atlantic and the Mediterranean.

Today you will see new boats but the country is as attractive as it used to be and rivers and canals keep surprising holiday makers who have set out to explore the area off the beaten tracks. The navigable waterway promises rich quiet and original holidays, combining different and beautiful landscapes with the warm welcome and help of the local people. The navigation sectors are perfectly adapted to waterway tourism.
