The Museo de Zaragoza, at Plaza Sitios, 6, was made in 1909 for a Spanish-French exposition as the Pavillion of Arts. The allegories of Sculpture, Painting and Architecture are situated on the main facade, with industry and Trade on the side towers. The outer walls of the museum are decorated with medallions that represent artist and sponsors. The inner patio seems to evoke with nostalgia the Patio of the Infanta, lost to a French antiques dealer, who took it to Paris. The nearby building of the School of Arts and Trade and that of Charity were also erected in 1908 and respond to the same constructive and formal criteria, reintroducing the tradition of Aragonese architecture in brick.
It contains the Archeological section which ranges from Prehistory to the Moslem era and the Fine Arts section, with numerous collections of paintings, sculpture and series of ceramics, coins and medals which range from the 12th century to the art of today. Most interesting are some prehistorical objects and great paintings, among others of Goya.
