The Melia Golf Vichy Catalan is located in the heart of the PGA Golf de Catalunya, alongside Caldes de Malavella, a spa resort on the Costa Brava in notheast Spain. Although modern in design, decorated in warm and welcoming colours and employing superior quality materials, the hotel is superbly integrated in its natural environment and combines perfectly with the two golf courses in the resort. Inaugurated in April 2006, the current hotel building was the fruit of four years of hard work which began with a competition in May 2002. The winner of the competition was a design of a single curved building, located to the back of the land, descending from the pine woods and adjusting to the lie of the land.
The lobby is the authentic heart of the building, occupying a part of each floor and connecting them in a single quadruple space looking outwards onto nature. Each floor has a viewing area of both the outdoor scenery and the indoor design. The hotel provides gardens measuring over 25,000 m², with grass, plants and trees surrounding the swimming pools. The restaurant terrace provides excellent views of the gardens to be enjoyed at breakfast, lunch or dinner in a setting of peace and tranquillity.
Hotel offers 149 rooms, 55 double rooms, 81 deluxe rooms, 8 duplex rooms, 4 junior suites and 1 presidential suite, all spacious and equipped with room service, desk, satellite TV, safe, minibar, hair-dryer, 2 telephones, WiFi internet connection, air-conditioning and heating. The quiet and spacious standard double rooms are overlooking the Zen garden or the golf practise area. Wood is used lavishly in the decoration, combining and contrasting with the upholstery of the sofas and curtains.
The elegant and bright deluxe rooms have magnificent views over the pool and the golf course. The rooms are equipped with a wide range of facilities: golf motifs, an intelligent lighting system to help create different types of atmosphere. Spacious wooden wardrobes with an internal light and a bathroom with a window with views of the room allowing you to take a relaxing bath and watch your favourite TV programme at the same time. Private terrace of approximately 6m². The duplex rooms have two floors and magnificent views and with a queen-size bed. The lower floor provides a lounge-dining room with a sofa and television and a double bathroom. The bedroom is located on the upper floor and has great views of the golf practise area.
The junior suites are located at the corner of the building with terraces of 15m² to 32m² providing unforgettable experiences under the starry skies of the La Selva night. Exquisitely decorated with wooden skirting and beading and a carpeted floor, they also provide a charming bathroom with dressing room, a large writing desk with tea and coffee-making facilities, independent temperature controls, golf motifs, designer lamps and a lounge with a comfortable sofa for watching TV.
The presidential suite magnificent room measuring 160m² over two floors with 3 terraces and splendid views of the golf course. The lower floor provides an elegantly decorated lounge. There is also a designer bar stocked with the finest liqueurs and refreshing sodas to make sure you enjoy the end your day, helped along by the 40m² terrace. The bedroom with its great views of the golf course is located on the upper floor along with the stunning bathroom with its whirlpool bath.
Spa: Guests enjoy free access to a whirlpool bath, dry sauna, wet sauna, ice fountain and thermal shower. The Spa area also offers changing rooms and showers. There are three massage booths and a Vichy shower. The fitness centre provides air-conditioning and the latest in cardiovascular equipment, including treadmills, exercise bikes, a steps machine and weights.
Golf: The Hotel Melia Vichy Catalan is located right in the heart of the PGA Golf de Catalonia with Club House, Golf Pro Shop, driving range, pitching & putting green: 36-holes, par 72, handicap of 36 minimum required. If you’re not much of an expert at golf you can also get some tips and lessons at the Manel Liñán Golf Academy and book private classes just for you or for groups without ever leaving the resort. PGA Golf de Catalonia opened in 1999, designed by Neil Coles and Angel Gallardo, it has quickly gained an international reputation. It has been regularly ranked as one of the Top 10 European venues by “Golf World” magazine and has hosted the Spanish Open and Sarazen World Open. The venue comprises two outstanding 18-hole courses and the luxurious Meliá Golf Vichy Catalán hotel. Both Girona and Barcelona are within easy reach of what has become known as one of Europe’s very finest golf resorts.
Food & Drink: The refined Quimera Restaurant guarantees an opportunity to try the finest in modern cuisine using fresh seasonal produce and also sample the signature dishes of Dani Garcia such as cherry gazpacho or foie with goat cheese and caramelized apple. The Tast - Brasserie is a Restaurant serving fresh Mediterranean cuisine. It offers an extensive and carefully selected menu. It is the ideal setting for a light lunch or informal dinner. Try the delicious Canadian lobster, fresh tuna, succulent pork chops, or tasty loin of pork, all of them freshly prepared by our magnificent team of experienced chefs.
The location is 15 kilometres from the city of Girona, a great starting point for visiting the beaches on the Costa Brava, 40 kilometres from France, and 85 kilometres from cosmopolitan Barcelona.
